A couple of thoughts on the current russia crisis

So here is my ’12 moves down the road’ chess thoughts on how this will play out:

– US will and have already imposed financial sanctions on russia

– Russia has amassed huge gold reserves to effectively replicate the gold standard for the ruble

– China will be happy to agree to trade with russia using either ruble or CNY

– A weak US, with hyperinflation loses the largest markets as users of dollar as world reserve currency

– The dollar loses this status and value plummets into free-fall

– Russia decimate USA, without firing a single bullet

Couple of facts worth considering:

Russia:

As of January 28th 2022, Russia holds about $634 billion in international reserves, the world’s 4th largest forex reserves.

Russia holds 1,688 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of proven gas reserves as of 2017, ranking 1st in the world and accounting for about 24% of the world’s total natural gas reserves

Russia has approximately 5,977 nuclear warheads.

USA:

The Treasury Department this week reported that the total national debt of the United States surpassed $30 trillion for the first time in history, an amount equal to nearly 130% of America’s yearly economic output

The FED will likely need to increase interest rates several times in the near future to dampen rising inflation – to 0.25 at least to start with

Potential we are in another housing bubble – https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/28/opinion/housing-bubble-us.html

Home sales in US fall 5.7% in January versus forecasts of 1% gain
